The NYI World-Wide Photo Contest

In this area you'll find details of current contests, up-coming contests, contest rules and prizes, Entry Forms, prints of winning photographs from recent contests, and names of all recent winners and runners-up. Best of all you'll also find a Three-Step Method analysis of the winning picture showing how the judges came to their decision. Read these analyses carefully and use the insights they provide to increase your chance of winning the next contest. Or simply use it as a guide to taking better pictures any time, anywhere!

This World-Wide Photo Contest is open to all who want to enter - whether or not you're an NYI student or graduate. Everyone! The judges will not know your status, so everyone has an equal opportunity to win.

Current Contest: Speed and Motion

Faster than a speeding bullet! Your mission is to photograph objects in motion, or any subject which conveys a sense of speed. Subjects? Everything from racing cars to crawling babies. Your pictures need to clearly need to show motion. Use a fast shutter speed to stop action, or a slow shutter speed to emphasize motion. Panning to move with the action will also be a good technique for this competition. So choose a moving subject and send us a picture that captures movement.
