NYIP On Location: 2009 PDN PhotoPlus ExpoPhotoPlus Expo is the annual autumn photography show held in New York’s Javits Center. Unlike the mid-winter Photo Manufacturing Association show that caters to photo retailers and industry insiders, PhotoPlus is the biggest show for photographers — professionals and serious amateurs — to attend seminars and see what’s new on the trade show floor. With the recession still affecting the economy, and ongoing turmoil in the photo industry as digital technology causes many film-based companies to either reinvent themselves or become obsolete, this year’s show was a bit smaller than prior years. Those looking for negatives — “Adobe’s not here. Hasselblad isn’t here.” — found plenty of talking points. Still, most of the major players were on the show floor, and there are always new booths with excited entrepreneurs happy to show their wares to interested photographers. The NYI On Location crew surveyed the show and selected a dozen players to interview. Watching these videos you’ll learn about new products, new releases, and people who make the photography industry the exciting place that it is. NYIP On Location Interviews
